  • Story Text: An American flag was unfurled on the west side of the Pentagon on Tuesday (September 11) to mark the 17th anniversary of the September 11th terror attack.
    The day after the attack, with the Pentagon still smouldering, a flag was draped by firefighters from the same spot.
    A moment of silence will be held at 1337 GMT, the moment at which American Airlines Flight 77 hit the Pentagon.
    Nearly 3,000 people were killed when hijacked jetliners crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001.
