- Story Text: Quincy Jones arrived at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Sunday (September 9) to premiere the Netflix documentary about his life and career.
Jones has won Grammys and Oscars and even been nominated for Emmys and Golden Globe awards.
The documentary is co-directed by his daughter Rashida Jones, a stipulation which allowed the film to get made.
Speaking on the red carpet, Quincy Jones said "It's my family, honey. If you're ever going to do it, that who you're let have it. The camera crews, I've got my personal camera crew and they're like my family and I trust them so I'm not worried about anything. I don't like to worry."
Jones is seen as a driving force for African Americans in popular music and has broken many boundaries for African Americans with his own career.
Co-director Al Hicks told Reuters "If Quincy wasn't here, so many things would not have happened. It's a hard thing to calculate because he's had these effects on Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, We Are The World, all those things but it's his individual… the effect he has on people daily and has had his whole career, it's hard to calculate."
Rashida Jones added "This story is so much part of the story of race in America, especially the black plight in America because he came up at a time - he worked in the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s and still to this day we're dealing with so much inequality and it's something that he can acknowledge and something that has been in his career and the way that he's broken boundaries in the past."
'Quincy' is set to stream on Netflix on September 21. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
