- Story Text: "Boy Erased," a coming-of-age drama which follows the son of a Baptist preacher who is forced to take part in a gay conversion therapy program, has premiered at TIFF.
Based on Garrard Conley's memoir, titled Boy Erased: A Memoir, it's written and directed by Joel Edgerton, who also produced, and stars Lucas Hedges as the son, Nicole Kidman as the mother, Russell Crowe as the preacher father. Edgerton also co-stars as a lead figure in the gay conversion therapy program.
