- Story Text: Hong Kong began to clean up on Monday (September 17) after a super typhoon wreaked havoc in the city.
Packing winds of more than 200 kph (125 mph) at its peak, tropical cyclone Mangkhut is considered the strongest to hit the region this year.
Hong Kong raised its highest No. 10 typhoon signal mid-morning on Sunday (September 16) as ferocious winds uprooted trees and smashed windows in office and residential buildings, some of which swayed in the gusts, residents said.
The typhoon made landfall in China's Guangdong at 5 p.m. (0900 GMT) on Sunday and killed two people in the province as of 8:00 p.m. (1200 GMT). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
