- Story Text: Ivory Coast's Abdoul Kader Kone was the winner of the first African Freestyle Football Championship held in Lagos, Nigeria over the weekend.
The three-day event, which ended on Saturday (September 15) attracted freestylers from over 20 African countries showing off their skills for the title of African Football Freestyle Champion.
Freestyle soccer is a sport of skill and expression where the player performs various stunts and tricks with a football to out-perform the competition.
The organisers, Feet and Tricks International Limited, said they bought the franchise to help the large number of ball juggling youths in Africa get noticed and create a livelihood out of their skills.
Kone received an SUV, US$3,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to the United Kingdom to perform during half time at a premier league match. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
