- Story Text: Residents of Petobo village in Indonesia gathered their belongings from the rubble of their houses on Saturday (October 6), more than a week since a 7.5 magnitude earthquake.
Most houses in Petobo collapsed and sunk to the ground after the earthquake caused the soil underneath them to liquefy.
Petobo residents were seen looking through the rubble of their homes and gathering any useable or repairable property, including machines and cars.
More than 1,600 have died since an earthquake and tsunami struck Central Sulawesi on September 28 as rescue operations continue to unearth corpses from the rubble of rural villages. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
