- Story Text: The Indonesian head of the National Search and Rescue Agency, Muhammad Syaugi promised in an emotional statement to relatives of a downed Lion Air flight on Monday (November 5) that they will continue searching for victims as long as there is a chance for them to be found.
The doomed JT610 flight slammed into the sea only minutes after taking off from Jakarta on Oct. 29, killing all 189 on board.
Indonesian authorities on Sunday (November 4) extended the search for victims and a second black box recorder from the wreckage of a nearly new Boeing 737 MAX by three days.
But in a meeting with relatives of the victims of the flight, Syaugi said as long as there is a "probability", the team will continue searching for the bodies, as relatives applauded in the audience.
As of Monday, 138 body bags containing human remains had been recovered and handed to police for forensic identification, yet only 14 victims had been identified. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
