- Story Text:Thousands of Colombians took to the streets in Bogota on Friday (January 11) to demand the resignation of Attorney General Nestor Humberto Martinez, for his alleged links to various corruption cases, including that of Brazilian construction firm Odebrecht.
Demonstrators gathered outside Martinez's office where they lowered a flag and set fire to it, along with images of Martinez.
Martinez has been questioned for his past links with Colombian companies associated with Odebrecht. Prior to his appointment as Attorney General, Martinez worked as a lawyer for the country's most important business group, the Sarmiento Angulo group.
Odebrecht has been at the centre of a massive Latin American graft scandal, acknowledging in 2016 that it bribed officials in a dozen countries. The company paid some $30 million in bribes in Colombia, according to the attorney general's office. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
