Indian army Major General V.J.Patankar said Tuesday his forces returned fire when the militants attacked them with guns, rockets and grenades.Patankar said they were fired on soon after calling on the militants to surrender.
In a separate incident, activists of a little known Jammu and Kashmir People's League, held an aborted protest march in Srinagar, summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir state, against the artillery exchange between Indian and Pakistani soldiers.
