- Story Text: India's Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan offered prayers at the world famous temple of Lord Venkateshwara in southern Tirupati city on Sunday (April 15), ahead of his son Abhishek's wedding to former Miss World Aishwarya Rai.
An incarnation of Hindu god Lord Vishnu, Lord Venkateshwara temple is the richest Hindu temple and is the second most visited religious centre in the world following the Vatican.
Devotees cheered as Bachchan visited the temple revered by millions of people. Bachchan was accompanied by his close friends industrialist Anil Ambani and Amar Singh, politician.
Bachchan made a donation of 5.1 million Rupees to the temple trust and also placed an invitation card for his son's marriage at the lord's feet to seek divine blessing.
Abhishek and Aishwarya are all set to tie the knot on April 20 at the Bachchans' residence "Prateeksha" in western Mumbai at a lavish ceremony. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
