Summary:Belgian author Georges Simenon sold millions of copies of his books with Inspector Maigret as the hero. In September 1966, the little Dutch town of Delfzij, where he wrote the first Maigret book, honoured him and his fictional hero. Simenon unveiled a statue of Maigret observed by some of the actors who had played the part on television.
