- Story Text: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan releases music album ' Confluence II' of Rahul Sharma, son of santoor maestro Shiv Kumar Sharma in India's entertainment and showbiz capital Mumbai.
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan released music album of Rahul Sharma, son of santoor maestro Shiv Kumar Sharma in India's entertainment and showbiz capital Mumbai on Monday (May 12).
The event was attended by who's who of Bollywood and some of them included film producer Yash Chopra, RPG Chairman Harsh Goenka, singer Adnan Sami and Rahul's father and Santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma.
After the huge success of Confluence, Rahul and renowned pianist Richard Clayderman have collaborated once again for Confluence II.
With Confluence II they have created an extraordinary musical vision, combining elegance of Claydeman's piano and Sharma's gentle santoor (Classical Indian Musical Instrument).
Amitabh congratulated Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Rahul's father for ensuring that musical heritage has been carried over by his son.
"It is always a pleasure to be associated with the music and particularly the music that comes out from the hands and heart of Pandit Ji (Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma). I'm excited about the fact that this music album being released today. I'm also very happy with the nature of the title. The title says confluence means a confluence of two stars of music, the stars are Rahul Sharma and Richard Clayderman," said Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood superstar.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, santoor maestro was overwhelmed to see Rahul performing on stage and said that he is very happy that his son has tried something that has never been attempted before in creating an extraordinary musical vision.
"If the disciple does a better work than his 'guru' (teacher), then the 'guru' feels more happy. I am doubly connected with Rahul as he is my son as well as my student. Santoor (musical instrument) was such an instrument, which was never used, in classical music and I have brought it from Kashmir and made it popular the world over. Rahul has not only learnt classical music but as a composer the way he has experimented in this album, I think, he has done something that has never been attempted in classical music.
There is melody in it, the beat is modern but its base is classical. I'm not only happy but also proud that Rahul has been able to achieve this," said Shiv Kumar Sharma, santoor maestro.
Most of the tracks of this album have been composed by Rahul Sharma himself along with some remixed tracks by Disc Jockey Suketu.
The album is backed by a beautiful video on the track of Sharma "The Chase" which was shot in France and directed by Rajat Nagpal. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
