- Story Text: Nearly every celebrity on Oscars' red carpet on Sunday (February 24) will have used a stylist to help them look their best.
Long time celebrity menswear stylist, Ashley Weston, who has worked with Darren Criss, Finn Wittrock and Mend Massoud will dress "Black Panther" actor Chadwick Boseman.
Weston counts the look she created for Boseman for last year's ceremony as one of her favorites.
"It was this beautiful Givenchy haute couture outfit. It was a long black shaw collar tuxedo coat that had this insane silver embroidery all throughout. It was just a knockout look that you would have never have seen on the red carpet, especially at the Oscars in the year's past."
Weston became a stylist after initially wanting to be a math professor and soon began to exclusively focusing only on men.
"I just really fell in love with menswear. The fact that all of these tiny little details can completely transform an outfit and really raise the confidence level of a man. I mean, it was just, it was so interesting and fascinating to me."
The Los Angeles native said creating looks for the Oscars and awards season is basically like the Super Bowl for a stylist.
"It's an 8 week journey that is super crazy, challenging, very busy. But super exciting because everyone is bringing their A-game and everyone wants to make sure that their clients really stand out on the red carpet."
With the definition of black tie evolving, men are having more fun on the red carpet.
"I think that it is the most exciting time right now in menswear because no longer are men expected to have to wear the traditional suit and the traditional colors," said Weston.
"It's just - it's a time now where men feel comfortable to be able to take risks," she added.
For Weston the reward comes when a look final comes together after weeks of preparation.
"I absolutely love it, it's so creatively fulfilling. And it's just like - it's a crazy journey to be on. So, it's -I mean it's absolutely wonderful and I love my job so much."
