There was no sign of pressure easing between India and Pakistan on Sunday (February 24), as protesters gathered in Karachi, chanting slogans against India's Prime Minister.
Tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours have escalated since a suicide car bomb in the disputed region of Kashmir killed 40 Indian security personnel on Feb. 14.
Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claimed responsibility for the attack.
After meeting with Foreign Office staff in Islamabad to discuss the situation in Kashmir, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi gave a televised address on Sunday in which he said Pakistan would not be intimidated by threats from India. He warned India not to "cast a hostile eye" towards Pakistan on Sunday (February 24).
Later, President of the Azad Kashmir region controlled by Pakistan Masood Khan told a news conference that India was "stoking the flames of war".
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who faces a general election by May, has said he has given a free hand to security forces to avenge the killings in Kashmir. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
