The mother of air stewardess Ayantu Girmay that was killed in the Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed on Sunday (March 10) reacted with shock and sadness at the loss of her daughter.
Kebebew Legesse was crying 'Why her, why her?' at the site of the plane crash that killed all 149 passengers and eight crew on board.
Sunday's flight left Bole airport in Addis Ababa at 8:38 a.m. (0538 GMT), before losing contact with the control tower just a few minutes later at 8:44 a.m. Flight ET 302 crashed near the town of Bishoftu, 62 km (38 miles) southeast of the capital Addis Ababa.
The dead included Kenyan, Ethiopian, American, Canadian, French, Chinese, Egyptian, Swedish, British, Dutch, Indian, Slovakian, Austrian, Russian, Moroccan, Spanish, Polish, and Israeli citizens.
Singapore and Australia suspended operations of all Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in and out of their airports on Tuesday (March 12) and Indonesia and China grounded their fleets of the U.S. planemaker's latest model after it suffered a second fatal crash in less than five months.
