- Story Text: Thousands of Jordanians came together to celebrate Mother's Day in style this year as they broke a Guinness World Record of the largest sticky notes poster full of messages of love to mothers.
More than 18,000 small notes were left by students and adults around the country sending Mother's Day wishes to their special ones.
The notes were collected on a large poster which was put on display for the Guinness World Records judge to asses.
One of the students who participated in the making of the poster was 9-year-old Sana Sarayra. She said celebrating her mother was very important to her.
"Today I will celebrate my mother on Mother's day. I love my mom because she cared for me, raised me, taught me everything, so I want to tell her thank you mom," she said.
The large poster was put on display at the King Hussein Park in Amman on Friday (March 22), where the Guinness World Record representative awarded it with a certificate asserting that it was the "Largest Sticky Notes Sentence."
Organiser of the event said his purpose was to put Jordan on the map while celebrating mothers at the same time.
"The mother is the dearest thing to a person. This was a challenge, and as a Jordanian I love challenges, and I love being a pioneer and in first place," said Raed Hamada, who owns a restaurants chain that sponsored the event.
In the Arab world, Mother's Day is celebrated each year on March 21, coinciding with the first day of spring.
Other regions in the world celebrate the event in May.
