- Story Text:Environmental activists dressed like green-swamp creatures disrupted the confirmation hearing for David Bernhardt, President Donald Trump's pick to run the U.S. Department of Interior, on Thursday (March 28).
Bernhardt, 49, a former energy lobbyist, faced tough questions during his Senate confirmation hearing on about potential conflicts of interest and the administration's unpopular plan to expand offshore oil drilling.
One of the activists, reared their masked head in the middle of Bernhardt's opening remarks, prompting smiles and laughter from the committee.
At least two of the activists, who claim to be from Greenpeace, were escorted from the hearing by Capitol police.
If approved by the panel, Bernhardt's nomination will advance to the Republican-controlled Senate where he is widely expected to get the nod. - Copyright Holder: POOL (CAN SELL)
