- Story Text: Following a deadly attack that killed 51 people in Christchurch in March, armed security presence was heavy outside the Al Noor Mosque on Friday (May 3) ahead of Ramadan.
Ramadan is the holiest month for the world's more than one billion Muslims, during which observant believers fast from dawn to dusk.
A Turkish citizen who was wounded during deadly attacks at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch died on Thursday (May 2) Turkey's foreign minister said, raising the death toll from the shooting to 51.
A suspected white supremacist from Australia has been charged with 50 counts of murder for New Zealand's worst peacetime mass shooting. Fifty other people were injured in the attacks, which occurred during Friday prayers.
