Summary:Seven people died and more than 40 were injured in an outbreak of sectarian rioting in Delhi, India, in November 1966. It began over the slaughter of cows, which Hindus worship as symbols of motherhood and fertility. Thousands of Hindus took to the streets to protest against the killing of cows and when they attempted to storm parliament, police opened fire with tear-gas. Later when a 48-hour curfew was imposed, troops patrolled the city. NOTE: Date is approximate. This clip may contain footage from multiple events; exact date or dates may be unknown.
