- Story Text: A convicted French thief who stole 11.6 million euros from a Lyon bank in 2009 and spent five years in prison was arrested in London on Wednesday (June 26) for attempting to exchange tens of thousands of pounds in cash before being released by police, French newspaper Le Progres reported.
Toni Musulin said he obtained the large sum from the sale of a luxury car, according to the newspaper.
Musulin succeeded in converting 4,000 pounds and said he was going to return to convert a second sum of 75,000, at which point currency exchange employees alerted authorities of the suspicious amount, the newspaper reported.
Musulin was a security vehicle driver who disappeared with 11.6 million euros he was transporting but then surrendered himself to police in Monaco in November 2009 and served five years in prison.
