- Story Text: A police vehicle carrying Hong Kong pro-democracy activists Joshua Wong arrived at the Eastern Districts Magistrate's Court on Hong Kong Island after they were arrested on Friday (August 30) on suspicion of organising illegal protests.
Wong, the icon of pro-democracy demonstrations five years ago that foreshadowed the latest turbulence, is the highest-profile arrest since protests escalated in mid-June over fears China was exerting greater control over the city.
Agnes Chow, a prominent activist, have also been detained and arrived at the court with Joshua.
Police said Wong and Chow, both 22, were arrested on Friday on suspicion of "organising unauthorised assembly" and "knowingly participating in unauthorised assembly."
