- Story Text: Two days before Austrians elect a new parliament, former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and candidate for the conservative People's Party (OVP) told supporters voting for his party meant "a consistent policy in the fight against immigration."
Speaking outside Vienna's OVP headquarters, Kurz urged supporters not to "lean back" and to campaign up until the last minute, asking them not to rely on polls.
With around 34% of potential votes, his People's Party (OVP) is so far ahead in the polls that arguably the top issue in the campaign has been who they will govern with as they will need a partner to secure a majority in parliament.
Anti-immigration Kurz also promised to lower taxes and not to take on new debt.
