Currently, Moldova is a country that sells wine very cheaply. We should focus on raising prices, but the quality of wines should rise accordingly." VARIOUS OF PEOPLE AT WINE FESTIVAL (SOUNDBITE) (Moldovan) "BOSTAVAN WINERIES" COMPANY CO-OWNER, VICTOR BOSTAN, SAYING: "An important feature of the Chinese market is that they are interested in quality wines, they are not disposed to buying and drinking wines of average quality or below average. For them, there is no question of price, but a question of quality. This is a great advantage for us, because the quality of our products always exceeds the price for which we offer it." The Asian market is interesting because they hardly have their own local wines. Demand is much higher than local supply, so there is room for our colleagues from France, Italy, Spain, and for us, since there is no local production." BOTTLES OF WINE ON DISPLAY

- Story Text: Thousands of Moldovans flocked to the central square of the capital Chisinau on Saturday (October 5) to celebrate the National Wine Day and take advantage of a rare opportunity to taste wines from various corners of the country.
Listening to traditional songs and watching folk dance people moved from tent to tent, tasting different wines from less-stylish brands poured from plastic bottles to exclusive ones, which won prizes at international wine festivals.
Wine makers said they set sites on Asian markets, which are seen as a huge opportunity because of the high demand and low local production.
Exports of wines and spirits such as cognac and vodka are a big currency earner for Moldova - which has a population of 3.5 million and is one of Europe's poorest states.
