- Story Text: Indonesian President Joko Widodo expressed his appreciation to his foreign guests for attending his inauguration ceremony on Sunday (October 20) as he was sworn in for a second five-year term as president, leading the world's third-biggest democracy after a first term marked by heavy infrastructure spending.
Speaking to media, Widodo said it was a "show of good relations with foreign countries." His inauguration was attended by regional leaders including Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Malaysia's Mahathir Mohamad and Singapore's Lee Hsien Loong.
He also added that he would announce his cabinet members to the public on his second day of work on Monday (October 21).
Widodo continued to welcome his foreign guests including Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan after the inauguration ceremony.
Widodo promised to open up investment opportunities in a country where red tape and vested interests remain a potent force discouraging foreign capital and to reform the country's unwieldy bureaucracy.
