- Story Text: Spain's coast guard intercepted a boat carrying almost 30 migrants off the coast of the Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands in the Atlantic on Friday (December 20) and transported them to the island's port of Arguinenguin shortly before midnight.
Among the party were two children believed to be about two-years-old. All are in good health, the coast guard said.
Spain's ministry of interior reported that up to December 1, a total of 24,031 irregular migrants had arrived in Spain by sea, 29% less than the same time last year.
