- Story Text: Actor Brian Dennehy, winner of two Tony awards and one Golden Globe, has died age 81, according to his daughter on Twitter.
Actress Elizabeth Dennehy tweeted on Thursday (April 16), "It is with heavy hearts we announce that our father, Brian passed away last night from natural causes, not Covid-related. Larger than life, generous to a fault, a proud and devoted father and grandfather, he will be missed by his wife Jennifer, family and many friends."
Dennehy is known for his roles in films such as 'First Blood', 'Cocoon', and the Baz Luhrmann directed 'Romeo + Juliet' and in television he appeared on such shows as 'Dynasty', 'Dallas', 'Miami Vice' and 'Just Shoot Me!'.
He won Tony awards for the lead role in 'Death of a Salesman', for which he also won an Olivier award as well as a Golden Globe for a television production, and for 'Long Day's Journey into Night'.
In 2010, he was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame.
