- Story Text: The Spanish stock exchange, the IBEX, opened on Monday (July 6) to losses of over 2% as uncertainty following the rejection by Greek voters of austerity measures in return for a debt deal.
Every listed company was down with infrastructure giants FCC and ACS among the biggest losers.
The risks premium has jumped considerably to 159 points at 7.17 GMT from 145 at close of business on Friday (July 3). At the same time, the total value of the Madrid stock exchange stood at 10,612.50, down 1.55%.
The Spanish economic minister, Luis de Guindos, has stressed on several occasions that Spain's return to economic growth and restructured banking sector were the country's main defence against any potential contagion from the Greek crisis. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
