- Story Text: The reigning World WBC Heavyweight champion, Frank Bruno, has launched an assault on the video pop charts with a single based on the theme from the "Rocky" films.
"Eye of the Tiger," to be released on December 11, features excerpts from Bruno's successful title fight against Oliver McCall at London's Wembley Stadium.
The video is just a taste of the hype expected to surround Bruno's defence of his title against Mike Tyson in Las Vegas next March.
Bruno does not sing on the video, but promises to do just that on a second single due out before the fight.
Speaking at the launch of the video at London's Hard Rock Cafe, Bruno said it showed the story of his career and his life, fighting for the ultimate prize and being the first British Heavyweight boxer to win the title in 98 years.
The last time Bruno and Tyson clashed, in 1989, Tyson was the undisputed title holder. He stopped Bruno in just five rounds, but since then has served a jail sentence for rape.
Bruno says he feels is was facing Tyson at the lowest ebb of the American's career. Tyson has been away from the ring four four years.
Bruno can only hope that the release of his single willfollow in the footsteps of the successful release of the latest James Bond theme, "Goldeneye." Asked if he would like to take on the role of 007, Bruno said he wouldn't mind driving Bond's Aston Martin, but he would have a hard time explaining all the Bond girls to his wife.
The music video is backed by vocals from United Kingdom (U.K.) session singer Lance Ellington, produced by Stock/Aitken. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
