- Story Text: Muscles, men and more "Magic Mike XXL"; Channing Tatum, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Joe Manganiello and cast attend the film's world premiere in Hollywood on Thursday (June 25).
The sequel to "Magic Mike" reunites the original cast three years later as the team goes all out for one last performance.
But for producer and actor Tatum, 'other' films had him even more excited than his own.
"It would have had a lot more 'X's in it, we couldn't go to the three 'X's because people would just think it is a porn and they made that so. You all know that? There's a parody porn out there, which I am so excited to see. I am more excited almost to see that than I am to see this tonight," Tatum said.
The stripper saga, loosely based on the experiences of Tatum earlier in his career, has expanded to include new members and deeper themes to the latest addition in the franchise.
For actor, Joe Manganiello, who was at the premiere with fiance, Sofia Vergara, the film also aims to leave the audience, in particular men with a positive message.
"The great, I think the unexpected part of this film for people that watch it is that they are really good guys and they are very likeable and their whole mission in life is to treat women better and I think that is something that any guy who comes to the theater or sees this or watches this at home should learn," Manganiello told Reuters.
And where does the XXL come from? Newcomer Stephen 'tWitch' Boss broke it down.
"Myself for the X, Donald Glover for the other X and Jada Pinkett-Smith for the L because that was also, you know she put a lot of love into that thing and lady, you see what I just did there, I just thought about that right now," Boss said.
Pinkett-Smith, who plays a role originally intended for a male actor encourages movie goers to see even deeper messages in the film.
"This platform is going to exist so it's not about it not existing, it's about it existing differently. And I was like wow, to use entertainment as a way to really explore that idea of exaltation within this industry. Because I feel like we really need it in all industries, clothing industries have trafficking, we're all participating in trafficking in some kind of way. It's really about not what we're doing but how we treat each other as human beings," Pinkett-Smith said.
And while actor Andie MacDowell described the film as 'glorifying woman', two-time Magic Mike ensemble cast member describes it as a 'celebration' not just of women but of brotherhood for the dance strippers they portray in the movie.
The biggest question however, how did they get those abs?
"That at some point there's going to be a spotlight on us on a stage and we're going to dancing, only scantily clad so fear and brotherly love is a powerful motivator," actor, Matt Bomer, explained.
Luckily not the entire cast missed out on the great local southern food in the nearby vicinity of the set, Gabriel Iglesias made sure to enjoy it for the entire crew.
"And so the fact that I got to go out and enjoy that (local Savannah food) and they're like 'I got to go to the gym', and I'm like 'Peace out fool!' because you gotta do what you gotta do to be on that pole, to be on that stage to do what you gotta do up there," Iglesias told Reuters.
Several hundred fans came out to cheers for their favorite celebrities but a handful of protesters also attended to demonstrate against Sofia Vergara.
Vergara is involved in a dispute with her ex-fiance, Nick Loeb, who has filed a complaint against Vergara for their frozen embryos in May.
