- Story Text: Scottish singer Susan Boyle is in Shanghai ahead of her appearance during the final of the "China's Got Talent" competition.
Boyle shot to stardom in 2009 when her performance of the song "I Dreamed a Dream" on the British version of the "Got Talent" television contest made her an overnight celebrity.
She is set to charm Chinese audiences with her powerful vocals as she makes a guest appearance to sing for an estimated television audience of 400 million during the finals in Shanghai on Sunday (July 10).
Local media said she will sing some classical songs together with some local acts.
At a news conference on Friday (July 8) to meet the press, Boyle, dressed in a classic red outfit, urged the Chinese finalists to just enjoy the moment on Sunday.
"What you do is you go out and enjoy yourself. Don't see it as a competition. Just enjoy it. You'll love it," she said.
This is the second year the Chinese version of the show is running after making a successful debut last year, with the series topping nation-wide ratings.
