Summary:With impressive ceremony, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi crowned himself Shahanshah of Iran. The 48-year old Shah had already ruled Iran for 26 years but had delayed his coronation until he felt he had put his country on the road to social and economic stability. Accompanied by his wife, the Empress Farah Diba and his son and heir Crown Prince Reza, the Shah accepted the Pahlavi crown emblazoned with hundreds of diamonds, pearls and emeralds.
