- Story Text: Christian Siriano, who worked as an intern in Alexander McQueen's London studio, pays tribute to the designer before his show at New York Fashion Week.
As Christian Siriano unveils his Fall Collection at New York Fashion Week on Friday (February 12), the fashion designer paid tribute to Alexander McQueen, who died in London yesterday.
Siriano, the winner of Project Runway's fourth season, worked as an intern in McQueen's studio when he was studying fashion in London.
"For me, McQueen was probably the most influential designer in my career and for so many young, aspiring designers," said Siriano, back-stage before his show.
"I think it is the worst loss we can have, in the industry."
Siriano, 24, unveiled a Fall Collection inspired by a glamorous Parisian woman in the 1960s.
"Fall for me, this season, was really about this idea of getting dressed," Siriano said.
"This woman isn't wearing jeans of t-shirts, she is finding this world of glamour, again, in a way after a tough economy, I think. That inspired this idea of day into evening."
Siriano is considered an up-and-coming star of the fashion industry, after garnering the support of Heidi Klum and Victoria Beckham early in his career. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
