- Story Text: Local youth officials dressed in Star Wars costumes went around the outskirts of Manila on Monday (May 4), to hand out relief packs and remind residents to follow lockdown guidelines.
Wearing Darth Vader and Stormtrooper outfits made from rubber mats and used plastic, they make the rounds regularly to make sure residents stay indoors and only those with official quarantine passes are allowed outside. In the coastal areas, they ride on wooden boats and distribute relief packs containing rice and canned goods to those in need.
May 4 is also known as Star Wars Day and is celebrated by fans of the movie worldwide - derived from a pun for the famous film phrase "May the Force be with you" or "May the Fourth be with You".
The Philippines' health department has confirmed a total of 9,485 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with 1,315 recoveries and a death toll of 623 as of Monday.
