  • Story Text: A fire at a multi-storey residential building in the Azerbaijan capital, Baku, killed at least 16 people and injured more than 60 others on Tuesday (May 19), according to local media.
    The blaze could be seen engulfing the building, with plumes of black smoke billowing into the sky, as fire fighters battled to douse the flames.
    According to local media, residents of the building were evacuated as the blaze raged on in Baku's Binagadi district, in the city centre.
    One victim was reported to have jumped from the burning building, children were also among those killed, APA news agency reported the health ministry as saying.
    It is not yet clear what caused the deadly fire.
