- Story Text: Ten artists used their design and painting skills to open a new front in the fight against the coronavirus by placing colorful footprints in Medellin's metro cars to let people know where they can safely stand under social distancing guidelines.
Medellin's Metro authorities called on the artists - all members of the city's Graffiti Urban Art Board - to help them fulfil the national government requirement that people on public transportation maintain appropriate levels of social distancing and not exceed 35% of the system's capacity.
The artists dove into the project head on and chose the most durable paints for the flooring of the metro cars said Medellin Metro's manager, Tomas Elejalde.
According to local media, a total of 114 metro cars will be painted with some 20,064 colorful footprints.
As of Sunday (May 10) Colombia has reported over 11,000 COVID-19 cases and 463 deaths according to its health ministry.
