- Story Text: China's foreign ministry said on Monday (June 1) the country hopes to resolve a border dispute with India through talks.
Foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told journalists: "We believe that the two sides can properly resolve the issue through dialogue and consultations."
The neighbours' troops have been facing off along the disputed border in the western Himalayas since early May, after Chinese troops intruded into Indian territory, Indian military officials say.
It is the most serious military standoff on the border since 2017, with soldiers in the remote Ladakh region accusing each other of encroachment.
