- Story Text: Workers for delivery apps including Rappi and Uber Eats held a protests and strikes on Thursday (October 8) in Argentine capital of Buenos Aires and the Colombian capital of Bogota, as part of global push back against what they say are unfair labour conditions.
Protests in Bogota are part of worldwide strike action planned by courier groups in Europe, the United States, Asia, and other Latin American countries.
Alongside Rappi and Uber Eats, workers from apps including Domicilios and Brazil-based iFood were also striking in Colombia, organizers said.
The strike is the second local action in three months, after couriers for Rappi, which is backed by Japan's SoftBank, organized a strike in August.
Reuters found last month that a black market in fake Rappi profiles has emerged, where courier accounts are sold for as much as $160 apiece, a phenomenon workers said was driven by unfair account blockings. Trade in worker accounts for Uber Eats and iFood was also found.
