Summary:French students occupied the Sorbonne, the University of Paris, for five weeks in May and June. All lectures had been suspended after violent demonstrations in the city. The special feature of the student revolt in France was the backing it gained from the organised workers. This grew until about ten million were on strike, with demands of their own. The ten-year rule of President de Gaulle was directly threatened. NOTE: Date is approximate. This clip may contain footage from multiple events; exact date or dates may be unknown.
