- Date: 1st July 2021
- Summary: LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES (JUNE 30, 2021) (REUTERS) PRATT BEING INTERVIEWED (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, CHRIS PRATT, SAYING: "With this, because of the rules of time travel where you cannot be alive in the time you're traveling to. That means, 30 years in the future you can't be alive, so they're only taking people who have died in the next 30 years into this draft. That's a piece of the story which is really interesting and it allows of this class of draftees to be middle-aged men and women. You're not fighting against a soldier necessarily. It could be a banker or an orthodontist. It's like people who are not equipped to go into battle being thrust into this situation and you get to really see that and that's pretty unique about this story." DIRECTOR CHRIS MCKAY (SOUNDBITE) (English) DIRECTOR, CHRIS MCKAY, SAYING: "It's the army of the ordinary and I think that was the appeal for Chris, too, to play somebody who was an ordinary guy, someone who's an ex-military guy, who's a teacher and has got big dreams and big ambitions but he's just an average guy who get puts into an extraordinary circumstance." ACTORS JASMINE MATHEWS AND EDWIN HODGE POSING TOGETHER (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR, JASMINE MATHEWS, SAYING: "Everyone can see someone in this movie they can relate to, which is beautiful and to me, one of the things I wish, I hope people take away from this is that you don't have to be some extraordinary person to save the world. You have a role that you play. Every person in this world has a role that they can do, that they can play to make this place better and that's exactly what this movie highlights and shows." RICHARDSON BEING INTERVIEWED PRATT BEING INTERVIEWED (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, CHRIS PRATT, SAYING: Reporter: "Has Arnie seen the movie yet?" Pratt: "No, not yet. Not yet. He hasn't seen the movie yet but he's seen the trailer. He'll see the movie this weekend." (Reporter: How are you feeling about that?) "How do I feel about it? I'm thrilled, I'm thrilled. Thank god that it's good. You know, if it was bad, I'd be nervous, but I'm thrilled because it's a great movie, so I can't wait for him to see it." CARPET VARIOUS OF PEOPLE GOING INTO VENUE

- Story Text:Hollywood actor Chris Pratt held the world premiere for his latest film 'The Tomorrow War' at the Banc of California Stadium in downtown Los Angeles.
However, it wasn't a usual premiere for him. Pratt for the first time executive produced the movie, whose release date kept being delayed by the pandemic until it was bought by streaming service Amazon Studios.
Asked how he felt to finally be launching the film, Pratt answered, "It's great to be outside and be at a premiere, for this film to be finally out there and for people to see it."
The film, despite its epic scale and state-of-the-art special effects, is not going to be released in cinemas.
Pratt said, "I'm thrilled that people get to watch this at home and have this experience right now. They deserve a summer blockbuster, and they can do it from the comfort of their own home in their pajamas. Just put your phone down. That's all."
'The Tomorrow War' shows a group of military personnel return from the future to the present day to draft everyday people to fight aliens that are destroying the planet.
Many are exceedingly ill-equipped, but Pratt, using his military background, hones his ragtag group of fighters into warriors.
Director Chris McKay said, "It's the army of the ordinary and I think that was the appeal for Chris, too, to play somebody who was an ordinary guy, someone who's an ex-military guy, who's a teacher and has got big dreams and big ambitions but he's just an average guy who gets put into an extraordinary circumstance."
"Everyone can see someone in this movie they can relate to," said Jasmine Mathews, who plays the leader of the drafters. She added, "One of the things I wish, I hope people take away from this is that you don't have to be some extraordinary person to save the world."
The film is similar in tone to many of Arnold Schwarzenegger's films. Schwarzenegger is now Pratt's father-in-law, so is he worried about showing the 'Terminator' star the finished product?
Pratt replied, "You know, if it was bad, I'd be nervous, but I'm thrilled because it's a great movie, so I can't wait for him to see it."
'The Tomorrow War' begins streaming on July 2.
