- Story Text: Canada's Foreign Minister Marc Garneau met Palestinian leadership in the West Bank on Monday (July 5) during a two-day visit to the region aimed to promote regional stability and a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
Garneau held talk with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, and Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Malki in the West Bank city of Ramallah, a day after he met with his Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid and Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in Jerusalem.
During his meeting with Abbas, the Canadian Foreign Minister confirms Canada's support towards the goal of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the region and a two-state solution.
His visit to the Middle East is part of an international trip.
