Green-washing is of course something we don't want to see, this is why we have a whole team actually checking all the commitments that are being made by governments or by corporations beforehand to make sure that these are not just empty words but real commitments with a timeline that we can check afterwards."

- Story Text: Elton John, Ed Sheeran, the Black Eyed Peas kick started a world-wide concert in Paris on Saturday (September 25).
The Global Citizen Live concert is a unique event which gathers 70 artists around the globe in Paris, New York City, Los Angeles, and other cities.
The concert, to 'defend the planet and fight poverty' gathered some 20,000 people in Paris at the Champs de Mars, at the foot of the Eiffel tower. Superstar Elton John opened the concert followed by many other artists including U.S. band Black Eyed Peas and ending with British singer Ed Sheeran.
Music fans had to register on the Global Citizen website and sign petitions or share messages on social networks calling on world leaders to do more for the climate.
In between performances, speeches were made calling on the international community and large companies to make commitments in fighting climate change.
French astronaut Thomas Pesquet sent a video message from the international space station calling on citizens to carry on pressuring their leaders.
