- Story Text: More than 130 horseback riders from 15 countries are competing in the Gallops of Jordan, an orienteering and endurance equestrian race, taking place in the Kingdom's renowned desert of Wadi Rum.
The race kicked off on Monday (October 25) and is expected to last for 5 days with participants, aged between 15 and 70 years old, galloping over 200 kilometres.
Many celebrities are taking part in the event including Jordanian Princess Jalila bint Ali, Miss France 2015 Camille Cerf, and Emmeline Parmentier a prominent Belgian jockey whose legs were amputated as a result of a car accident.
"I want to go in (and) finish. It's very important for me. It's a challenge, of course, but I like horse riding," said Parmentier.
Gallops of Jordan is the 4th edition of the race which was previously held in Oman, Morocco and India.
