- Story Text: India test-fired BrahMos and Uran anti-ship missiles from eastern Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Wednesday (February 02).
"Ship Launched & Land based #AShM (anti-ship missile) fired from #IndianNavy's Guided Missile Corvette & #ANC (Andaman and Nicobar Tri-Services Command) hit the target at max range with devastating impact," said Indian Navy's Twitter handle.
BrahMos, a supersonic cruise missile, was fired from the ground while Uran was fired from the Indian Navy's corvette by the tri-services command of the Indian Armed Forces, the Andaman and Nicobar Command.
Officials said the target was a decommissioned Naval ship, LCU 38, in the Bay of Bengal.
The tests come just a few days after India and Philippines signed a $375 million deal to supply the latter with BrahMos for their land-based anti-ship system.
In December, India had also test-fired BrahMos from Su30-MKI fighter. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
