I followed the guy and I managed to catch him in one corner and then we stood in front of each other and I felt pity. I was afraid. I thought he was really beautiful and I thought, What did I do? And I never forgot this moment. And so I think the combination of all these extreme feelings can open someone up who otherwise who might be, yeah, who might've closed himself or herself off of the world, which is the case with my protagonist, Anna in the movie. - Story Text: A 17-year-old boy snatching a handbag from an older woman is usually not a promising start for a romantic love story. But when 60-year-old actor Anna (Sophie Rois) gets mugged on the streets of Berlin, she feels that her life might be about to change forever.
By chance Anna bumps into the young misfit (Milan Herms) again when the student has to take language lessons with her and Anna gets drawn into a new, breathtaking love story.
In her new film "A E I O U - A Quick Alphabet of Love", which premiered at the Berlin film festival on Sunday (February 13), German director Nicolette Krebitz explores an unconventional relationship from a female perspective.
"I spent most of my life watching films made by men, and I've recognised that they show the world the way they want to have it. And so I just do the same", Krebitz told Reuters on the red carpet.
For her leading lady, the premise of the strange and dangerous love affair came as now surprise.
"In love, the most possibly unfamiliar thing is always the most interesting," said Rois.
"A E I O U - A Quick Alphabet of Love" is one of 18 films competing for the coveted Berlinale Golden Bear prize which will be awarded on Wednesday (February 16). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
