- Story Text: Both the India and Poland condemn Russia's violence against Ukraine, said Polish Foreign Minister, Zbigniew Rau in a newser on Tuesday (April 26) in New Delhi.
Rau accepted Poland's initial differences in opinion with New Delhi over the Russia-Ukraine situation. "But there is no doubt in my mind that our assessment of the situation is very close. Both Poland and India has had a tragic experience with foreign imperialism and it's difficult, it's very difficult not to see the present aggression against Ukraine as an attempt to restore the Russian empire," he said.
India has refrained from explicitly condemning Russia's invasion, while calling for an immediate end to violence. Moscow calls its actions in Ukraine a "special military operation".
More than 5 million Ukrainians have fled since Russia invaded on February 24, with the majority seeking safety in the European Union through border crossings in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
Many of the refugees have chosen to wait out the war with friends and family in Poland whose pre-war Ukrainian community of around 1.5 million represented the region's largest. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
