- Story Text:Thousands of Albanian Muslims celebrated Eid al-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, with morning mass prayers in the capital city of Tirana on Monday (May 2).
Drone footage showed a large crowd of worshippers gathered on Tirana's central Skanderbeg Square.
Eid al-Fitr marks the start of a three-day holiday, that comes after the month of Ramadan, as Muslims exchange gifts and visit family and friends.
According to the latest census data from 2011, 56.7 per cent of Albania's population adheres to Islam, making it the largest religion in the southeastern European country.
