A woman injured by an avalanche was successfully extracted by rescuers in Ushuaia, Argentina on Tuesday (June 21) after a seven-hour rescuing operation in the midst of a snow storm.
The woman was unable to walk and had to be pulled off the mountainside with the help of sled ties attached to a stretcher.
Civil Defence authorities received an emergency call to say a woman had been lost as a result of an avalanche in the Cerro Godoy gutter.
Alerted by this situation, members of the Aid Commission from different institutions launched a meeting to establish the necessary resources and equipment, in order to safely rescue the women.
After two hours of climbing, rescuers reached the skier and dragged the women, who was immobilised in a stretcher to safety despite the bitter weather and howling wind.
