- Story Text:Rain provided on Wednesday (August 17) much-needed relief to firefighters struggling to control a wildfire in Spain´s Valencia region.
Late in the evening, a storm swept across Vall d´Ebo and Bejis wildfires refreshing the area and almost extinguishing the flames.
The region recorded between 14 and 20 liters per square meter of rainfall, data from emergency services showed.
The wildfires have burnt more than 23,000 hectares (56,834 acres) in Valencia forcing the evacuation of more than 2,000 people.
Valencia´s regional leader Ximo Puig said most of the evacuated are clear to return to their homes.
