Wednesday (August 24) marks six months since the start of the war in Ukraine.
Thousands of people have been killed and millions forced to flee since Russia launched its invasion on February 24, saying it aimed to demilitarise Ukraine and protect Russian speakers on what Russian President Vladimir Putin called historical Russian land.
Ukraine and Western countries view it as a war of conquest aimed at wiping out Ukraine's national identity.
More than 10.5 million people have crossed the border from Ukraine since Russia's invasion, the United Nations Refugee agency UNHCR said on its website on August 9.
