On the one hand, the uncompromising "denazification" and demilitarisation of Ukraine. Uncompromising actions. Unity inside our country. But, if we speak about details - obviously she (the Ukrainian woman who was accused by Russian investigators of killing Dugina), I don't want to say her name, she has to be delivered here, publicly condemned and punished." MEMORIAL CEREMONY IN PROGRESS AUDIENCE WATCHING (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) LEADER OF THE NATIONALIST LDPR PARTY, LEONID SLUTSKY, SAYING: "It is the responsibility of each of us to limit the number of such tragedies. Those who performed and ordered this brutal crime should appear before the International tribunal. That will be a legal trial, and a historical trial is already in process. Because fascism should be eliminated inside the fascism's nest. Unfortunately, fascism's nest is in Kyiv now. But its instigators and creators are across the ocean, in Washington, D.C. the Historical trial will reach them, anyway. Rest in peace, true Russian patriot, Darya Dugina". A memorial service to Darya Dugina, the daughter of an ultra-nationalist Russian ideologue who was killed in a suspected car bomb attack, took place in Moscow on Tuesday (August 23).
Speaking after the service, some of Dugina's friends and colleagues said they were hopeful her death could "help convey the message to the government" that it was time to stop "playing around with 'special military operations'" - as Moscow describes its actions in Ukraine.
"It's time to start a war, serious war," said Nikita Monchenko, who knew Dugina.
Russian state TV presenter Dmitry Kiselyov, who spoke at the ceremony, said that the only possible response Russia could take was the "uncompromising denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine" - echoing the justification given by Russian President Vladimir Putin for sending troops into Ukraine on February 24.
Dugina's father Alexander Dugin - a vocal supporter of both Putin and Moscow's "special military operation" in Ukraine - said that only Russian victory in Ukraine could justify his daughter's death.
The parliamentary leaders of the three main pro-Kremlin parties spoke at the service, hailing Dugina as a patriot and promising that those who had ordered and carried out her murder would get their just deserts.
Leonid Slutsky, leader of the nationalist LDPR party, predicted that streets and squares would be named after Dugina before issuing a call for unity.
"One country, one president, one victory," Slutsky told mourners.
Sergei Mironov, who leads the Just Russia party in parliament, called for the destruction of what he called "the regime" in Kyiv.
Russia's Federal Security Service has accused Ukraine's secret services of killing Dugina in a car bomb attack near Moscow on August 20 that Putin later described as "evil".
Ukraine has denied involvement in the attack.
Dugin was on a U.S. sanctions list, and the extent of his influence over the Russian president has been a subject of great speculation, with some Russia watchers asserting that his sway is significant and others calling it minimal.
Darya Dugina, who also went by the surname Platonova, broadly supported her father's ideas and appeared on state TV in her own right to offer support for Russia's actions in Ukraine.
In a statement in March, the U.S. Treasury said Dugina, the chief editor of the United World International website, which has suggested Ukraine would "perish" if admitted to the NATO military alliance, had herself been put on a U.S. sanctions list. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
